It is a protected natural reserve, 22 miles from the coast, it is the largest atoll recorded in the northern hemisphere of the planet and the second largest in the world. Due to its geographical location, it also belongs to the Mesoamerican Reef System, with an elliptical shape, the longitudinal axis is 43.26 km and its transversal axis is 18.03 km at its widest part.
It is one of the best-preserved dive sites in Mexico and the world, due to its natural characteristics, the health of its corals, the abundant marine life, the coral formations it has, and its unusual coral cover.
